It seems like a contradiction - why would God's elect find themselves as refugees? Why would they be scattered? Yet, sometimes we feel that way.  Amd sometimes, it can be more than a feeling - it can be literal.  It was often literal in the early church, and the apostle Peter adressed that reality in his first letter.
